The previous owners of our townhouse had some great things planted in the garden. I was kind of thrilled to discover all the mint and the tiny strawberries that spread like wildfire, and we were both surprised by what turned out to be a clematis growing on the tree on our front yard. It bloomed in a rich deep purple a lot like this person's. We've bought a few plants -- chives, tomato and basil in the summer, one euonymous for the front and one for the back -- but we're not the greenest of thumbs over here. We feel comfortable with stuff that is fairly hardy and self-sufficient.
But my favorite thing we've bought was kind of an impulse buy last summer: our Asiatic lily.
I took these with my faithful little DSi. I wish I could've captured how amazingly vivid the colors are.
