Feb. 29th, 2008 05:00 pmHere I am, for only about another 45 minutes, at the Alexandria, LA airport. Fortunately, it has free wireless.
It's been a hell of a long few days. Today's been even longer. First we manage to miss our flight out. My first time ever missing a flight. And we wouldn't have missed it if this had been a bigger airport with someone manning the ticket counter all the time. As it is, we ended up cutting it to close, and that was that.
Then the flight we were put on got delayed an incredible hour and a half. So we'd all miss our connecting flights in Memphis (though I was on standby as it was), and now I'm set to get home five hours later then originally expected.
It could be worse. There was only one seat on the flight from Houston to Detroit, so my dad got on it -- he teaches a class tomorrow and needed to be back -- but my mom and brother end up having to stay overnight at my aunt's and wake up at 3 am so they can get here for their early morning flight out.
And like I said, at least this particular airport has free wireless. Too bad much bigger airports can't follow the example.
Maybe in the next half hour I'll get a chance to write a little more on the mini-essay about perceptions of Kate Austen that I've been planning to post here as soon as I get the time to finish it.
Otherwise, my patience is rather at its limit, and I'm tired, dehydrated, digestively upset, and pretty emotionally frayed.
