and the radio man laughs
Jan. 2nd, 2010 01:33 amHappy New Year!
Like last year, I made out like a bandit where Yuletide's concerned. Unlike last year, when I somehow received a story for each of my requests, this year I got three stories (two full-length and one treat) for the same request. They were all Baccano!, and they were all beautiful.
( Details here. )
I was thrilled to read each of these stories. To any of my writers who read this, thank you so very much (again).
Following what's apparently become my pattern, I wrote one full-length story and one treat again this year. I'm responsible for Unfinished Business, a post-series Samurai Champloo piece, and The Queen, a Dragon Age: Origins ficlet about Anora.
Last year I underestimated the popularity of the canon I was writing in (it was Love, Actually) and was honestly blown away by the number of comments received. This year I was expecting far, far less (partly because of the technical issues and partly because I generally assume the worst about my writing but mostly because my canons were more obscure), but that hasn't stopped me from getting genuinely lovely comments and I've had such a creative train wreck of a winter so far that each one has very sincerely meant the world to me.
Last night we had company and I made farinata and cupcakes made with a Coke cake recipe. Except I used Cherry Coke Zero. Honestly, I've never made cupcakes by myself in my life, but they were pretty damn good. Apparently we're hosting a Lost party for the same group of friends in February. I'll have to figure out something else new and interesting to make.
